ECU is committed to providing accessible technology and educational resources. Computer labs, learning platforms, web pages, multimedia content and applications should be accessible to everyone including individuals with disabilities. By establishing an accessibility and compliance program and keeping up to date with current trends in educational technology, learning platforms and web development, East Carolina University is addressing the needs of all students and ensuring access.

In this session we will share our experience of developing and implementing an IT Accessibility Plan. We will discuss how to build a solid plan including evaluation of the learning technology environment, adoption of assessment tools and strategies, importance of Universal Design for Learning, and creation of a campus-wide IT accessibility committee. We will highlight the processes and practices we are implementing to ensure our learning tools and environment are accessible, and we will discuss the significance of campus collaboration and training.
