Story Mission Engaged – Bridging the Gap in Strategic Planning using Gamification

How do you drive engagement in long-term strategic plans? How do you keep employees on the right track for producing deliverables that tie in with those plans? How do you keep a focus on individual progress as well as larger team based progress? And how do you easily track that progress? WCU's Instructional Computing team came at this from a different angle. Tie your Strategic Plan to your team and your employees through gamification. So, we created a Story Mission game for our Instructional Technology Roadmap. This session shows an overview of gamification, and dives into the nuts and bolts of how we created a process that works with our long term goals and strategies. We will show all the steps we took to develop our roadmap into a mapped story mission where our employees can track both their individual progress, as well as seeing the larger team progress and goals. Instead of a bunch of smaller time-burner games, we give a full-fledged story driven narrative.
